Stronger "Do Not Call" Law

(Source: Fox 40 Staff)

Governor Cuomo signed legislation Tuesday making prerecorded telemarketing calls  illegal in New York State unless the caller has your consent.

Companies will also have to give you the option of putting your phone number on the telemarketer's "Do-Not-Call" list.

The new law will give New York the right to ban companies from doing business in the state.  The law will take effect in 90 days.

Since the state's "Do-Not-Call" law took effect,  New Yorkers have registered over 13 million phone numbers on the "Do-Not-Call" registry.
