Cromartie causes more ruckus at Jets Camp

CORTLAND, NY -- Once again it seems like the Jets can't keep their mouths shut and stay out of the media circus.  This time it's defensive back Antonio Cromartie causing the extra attention.

Cromartie, who has seen some sporadic time at wide receiver during camp, told reporters that he is the second best receiver on the team behind only Santonio Holmes.

Jets receivers took offense to Cromartie's comments, however quarterback Mark Sanchez did his best to silence the discussion Friday after practice.

"We're not even going down that road.  That's stupid and who cares," said Sanchez.  "Cro is very athletic. Athletically could he be one of our best receivers?  Probably.  Chaz is an awesome player, he's playing his butt off, so we're not even going there.  It doesn't matter, it's really a non-issue."

The Jets may have different problems at receiver as well, because Santonio Holmes missed practice again Friday due to what he calls "general soreness."

The team continues training camp Saturday evening with the "Green White Scrimmage" in Cortland Stadium at 6.
