Wheeler promoted to Triple-A

BINGHAMTON -- A day after striking out a season-high 11 batters, B-Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler got the call up to Triple-A Buffalo Wednesday.

Wheeler, the top-rated Mets prospect, is expected to start for the Bisons on Sunday against Syracuse.

There's been speculation that Wheeler could have been called up as early as a few weeks ago, but the organization decided to keep him in Double-A.

As a member of the B-Mets, Wheeler recorded 10 wins and had a 3.26 ERA.
