National Pipe and Plastic Variance Decision

A very quick meeting Monday night in the Town of Union lasting less than two minutes in fact.

The subject was National Pipe and Plastics' plan to expand its business to a new location in the Town of Union.

Many people expected the zoning board to vote on the variance applications Monday night.

But the vote was delayed to allow the town to complete an environmental review process.

"We have an offer to go another building, outside of New York State it would save us a substantial amount of money every year, the problem is because it's further away we would not be able to keep our employees," said Dave Culbertson the President of National Pipe.

The company wants to extend certain heights and setbacks of the building. Management says the expanded factory will empl0y 150 people.
