Owego Fracking Ban

The Village of Owego passed a one year moratorium on gas drilling Monday night.

Between two to three dozen were at the meeting Tuesday night.

Many appeared to be happy with the decision.

The vote was five in favor, one against, and one abstaining.

The moratorium covers natural gas and petroleum exploration, extraction and support activities like construction sites, chemical storage, or pipelines.
