Storm Clean Up in Vestal

Although the skies were clear Friday night-- a lot of streets and yards were not.  Tom Allen was in Vestal for a look at what still has to be cleaned up, more than 24 hours after the storm.

Residents in Vestal were still cleaning up debris after Thursday's storm left a trail of destruction in some areas of the Southern Tier.  But, some felt they were just pretty lucky to escape mother nature's wrath.

"We were personally ok, a couple of houses down a power line was down and we lost power to 9:00 am this morning, a minor inconvenience"  said Vestal resident Andy Blaine.

"We fared out very well from the storm other than power lost in the area.  power restored by 9:30, other than that we did very well" said Vestal resident Mark Thomas.

Others weren't so lucky.

These are some of the limbs that fell on and destroyed a new car on Virginia Ave.  Up and down Kimble Road there were piles of debris that people worked hard all day removing from their yards.

Yesterday's winds in the area were estimated to be at 60 miles per hour.

And for some the damage looked all to familiar.

"To see these streams fill up with water it was similar to last September" said Apalachin resident Janice Mangan.

Residents say they were looking forward to some sunshine over the next few days
