Police Still Searching for Hit and Run Suspect

While Vestal Police continue to look for a driver who hit a motorcyclist, the man who was on the bike says drivers need to be more cautious.

William Hughes spoke with Fox 40 Friday about the accident that happened Tuesday, and how both drivers and motorcyclists can better share the roadway.

He advises motorcyclists to have plenty of reflectors on their bikes, and to be extra careful at intersections.

Those behind the wheel of a car should slow down if they see a motorcycle coming, because motorcycles are usually a lot closer than they appear.

"This guy was truly at fault you know I'm doing 30 to 35 miles an hour and this car just... and there's no reaction time. You know if I would have hit this guy head on I wouldn't be here today. I can  guarantee you'd be interviewing a corpse in a hospital even at 30 to 35 miles an hour," said William Hughes the motorcyclist.

An eyewitness says that driver was either in his teens or twenties driving a Silver Chevy Impala.

Anyone with any information should call the Vestal Police Department.
