Trees Block Roads And Crash On Houses In Owego

Thunderstorms hit the Southern Tier hard Thursday afternoon as roads flooded right down the street from our studio on the Vestal Parkway.

It was a similar scene in Owego tonight as trees blocked roads and landed on houses.
 
Just off of Route 17 a neighborhood was hit hard with down power lines and trees.  The area was without power when we were there around seven this evening. One resident.who had a tree land on her house says the storm came quicker than they would have ever expected.

"It started raining lightly and within seconds it just started raining really really hard.  It got really dark, and she could barely even get in the house.  The chairs went flying, everything went flying and I ran upstairs, grabbed my kids, and went in the basement. It was bad." said Owego resident Christin Cade.

A scary afternoon in Owego, but not quite as bad as what hit some other areas.
