Car Thefts Low in Binghamton Area

People talk a lot about high crime rates in New York State,
but in one area at least, New York ranks far below the national average, and so does Binghamton
   
According to the New York Insurance Association, metropolitan areas in New York rank below the bottom half of car thefts for the nation.

The highest theft rate in New York State is found in the Buffalo area, but even that ranks 183rd on the national list.

Binghamton and Glen Falls are the only parts of New York that reported an increase in car thefts, but even so, Binghamton still ranks way down at 350th on the list.

The lower rates are attributed to good law enforcement, insurance industry commitment and precautions by car owners.
