Tree Falls on Police Car in Endicott

Police responded to a domestic call at a house on the street-- and while the officer was out of the car investigating the complaint, -- a big branch of a tree fell, bringing down power lines, and whalloping the police vehicle.
There were no injuries, and neighbors were happy to see the tree go. They told Fox 40 that the tree had been coming down in pieces for some time, and had asked the village repeatedly to remove branches that her brushing against power lines. Captain David Collins of the Endicott Fire Department speculated that the tree branches had been weakened by recent storms.
Bennie House, who lives right across the street from the tree says he's thankful that the branches didn't fall when kids were riding their bicycles under it--but says he's glad it's gone, because everyone in the neighborhood had wanted it down for the past three years.
Although some people were ready to believe the story when they first heard it, a wife of a village employee had to go see for herself, if her husband really had to leave the house to remove a tree from a police car: Beverly Manchester laughed and told us she thought her husband made up the story, so that he could go meet with his buddies as some bar.
The tree will not be charged-- although as we were leaving-- Capital Punishment was being applied--with the help of chain saws.
