Dead and Starving Dogs: Conklin Woman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

A Conklin woman faces 16 charges of animal cruelty after conditions in her home were investigated by Binghamton Police.

Christine Macan of 200 Shaw Road, was arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty after police found both deceased and emaciated Dobermans in her home.

13 dogs had to be rescued and taken to the humane society in Binghamton for care.

"We also noticed three deceased Dobermans in crates, that had been there for approximately over a year. We had also noticed in a separate bedroom stacks of small animal crates with numerous deceased animals inside of them, that we couldn't tell what they were because they were so decomposed," said Tarah Tripp the Animal Cruelty Investigator at the Humane Society.

The humane society is a nonprofit organization that was already running at full capacity before this incident.
