PA Budget Plan Passes

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett signs off on the state's budget on time for the second consecutive year.

The Governor says $27.6 billion dollar budget will strengthen the state's economy and education system, while continuing his commitment not to increase taxes.

"I am pleased...I can't tell you how much I'm pleased...that we are able to restore funding to several areas of the budget including education.
In total...more than 11 billion dollars...40 percent...of the more than 27 billion dollars of this entire budget goes toward education.
As it was last year...education is our number one spending priority.
In fact...this is the highest amount of state money going in basic education in our sates history," said Corbett.

The legislature is also adopting several of Corbett's major initiatives like improvements to the criminal justice system and an education reform package.
