Congressman Hanna Introduces New Transportation Bill

CHENANGO -- Almost a billion and a half dollars for mass transit and a good chunk of it could be coming to Upstate New York.

Congressman Richard Hanna made the announcement today.  The money is part of the $100 billion federal transportation bill.  He says it will provide plenty of work, for lots of people

"Good paying jobs for all the major unions, corporations, laborers, operating engineers, steel workers, all of it, so I'm happy to be part of it," Hanna said.

Hanna, a Republican who sits on the highways and transit subcommittee, helped usher the bill through congress.  He says the bill contains no earmarks, so, that upstate projects will be less likely to be sacrificed for downstate development.

The bill now goes on to the President, who is expected to sign it.
