Regional Economic Development Council Looks at Future Projects

More state-funded projects are on their way to the Southern Tier, in an effort to create jobs.

The Southern Tier Regional Economic Council met Thursday in Binghamton.

Co-chair Tom Tranter, the CEO of Corning Enterprises, says that more than a hundred projects will be reviewed during the next couple of months.

They could be awarded funding from the state sometime around October.

"It's a wide array of projects to meet the needs of individual counties and so it's kind of all over the board but clearly the top priority is job creation," said Tranter.

Last year Governor Cuomo established ten regional economic development councils.
They are competing for  around a billion dollars.
