Country Pines reopens with Konecny Fundraiser

ENDICOTT -- One place hit especially hard by this past year's flood, Country Pines.  However, despite all the damage, it reopened Wednesday night.

Broome County Legislature candidate Eileen Konecny held a campaign fundraiser at the outdoor barbecue spot.

She said she was thrilled to be a part of the reopening of Country Pines, but has some ideas on how to prevent it from being flooded again.

"When I look at this particular district in this area, I think that these little creeks and the streams, maybe the secondary or tertiary creeks and streams are the ones that really need to be cleaned out," said Konecny.  "If you turn around and look at the creek behind you, it's clogged up.  Should mother nature decide to unleash her fury on us again, this place is going to be in trouble once more."

Konecny is running for the 6th District, which is coprised of Endicott, West Corners and part of the Town of Maine.
