Progress on Rebuilding Elementary School in Owego

Plans are moving forward to replace the flood damaged elementary school in Owego

According to the school's superintendent, FEMA is moving forward with the paperwork to build a new school.

Early indications are that FEMA prefers to continue using the current site.

That means designing a building that would be above a 500 year flood plain elevation.

If that is not feasible, the district could apply to relocate a new school to a site that is out of the flood plain altogether.
