New Facility for Vestal Nursing Center

A new home for the Vestal Nursing Center, whose Vestal Road site suffered extensive damage from last September's flood.

The center announced Friday it will build a new facility on Sheedy Road in Vestal.

A recently-awarded $9.1 million grant is making the move possible.

The new building will have a 160-bed nursing facility, 40-bed assisted living facility, and a 31-slot adult day-care facility.

Current residents have been split between the Willow Point nursing home and greater Binghamton Health Center.

No word yet on when construction will begin. But when it does the project should take about a year.
