Local Car Dealership Hosts Humane Society Adopt-a-Thon

While one normally heads off to a car dealership in hopes of purchasing a hot new ride, Wednesday at Matthews Auto Group one could simultaneously peruse the selection of Humane Society pets up for adoption!

The mission of  Adopt-a-Thon is to help raise funds for the Humane Society, specifically the Jackson Avenue facility, which had been hit hard by the flood.

Animal lovers filed into the dealership all day long, some making donations and others completing applications if they were interested in bringing home a pet.

Matthew's agreed to match all donations up to $2,500.

Kathy Breno, marketing director for Matthew's Auto Group, explained  why they wanted to get involved with this project:

"We're a part of this community and we want to help and give back to the community. Because all Subaru vehicles are "Dog-tested and Dog-Approved," it seemed like a no-brainer for us to join forces with the Humane Society to help out our furry friends."

Laura Melville, the fundraising coordinator for the Humane Society expressed her appreciation for Matthews Auto sponsorship of the event, noting that, "We have about 125 animals in our shelter right now, which is a lot and it's very helpful any donations that can be made."

If you are interested in adopting a pet or making a donation to the Humane Society, visit their website.
