State Senate Approves Welfare Reform Bill

A welfare reform bill sponsored by State Senator Tom Libous has passed in the New York State Senate.

The Public Assistance Integrity Act would make it against the law to use public assistance dollars for alcohol, lottery tickets, or casino gambling.

It would also prevent people from using their E.B.T. card at ATM's in places like liquor stores, casinos and strip clubs.

The federal government is requiring states to put policies like this in place.

Now the bill goes to the Assembly.
