(Source: By Kena Vernon)

Peter Wlasiuk's murder trial continued Tuesday with more testimony from a  former sheriff's deputy.

Testimony focused on burdock plants.the former deputy held the plants he says he found at Peter Wlasiuk's home.

The D.A. believes these burdock plants were found in Patricia Wlasiuk's hair and proves that there was a struggle before her death.

Testimony continued inside the Chenango County courthouse and there was just as much buzz outside the courtroom. Inside Nina's Pizzeria just a few blocks away it was the topic of conversation.

Customer Peter Mars says,"It's a third time doing a trial and just because one person has more money than the other ones and can get better lawyers we have to go on for a third time the same trial when everyone knows what is going on."

"You know what is a shame the tax payers. They have to pay for all three of these trials. Is that right,"added Tony James.

This is Peter Wlasiuk's third murder trial,he was found guilt in 2003 and then again in 2008 but both were overturned in appeals court.

Many people who live in the area have been following the murder case for years and have mixed reaction to Wlasiuk's being tried for a third time.

Resident Ann Yerton says, "How ridiculous that's all I thought and it's costing us."

Resident Justin Lee Wilcox agrees,"It just drains the system here in Norwich and the community it self. The city is really spending a lot of money on absolutely nothing."

The owner of Nina's David Shull, says he's happy to see some extra foot traffic in his restaurant.

"On a business side of things it has brought attention. It's a high profile case in this area. It's brought extra people in town and extra business."

The trial continues on Wednesday.
