Town of Union Group Seeks Fracking Ban

In Union-Endicott Monday night, opponents of fracking were trying to do something about Governor Cuomo's reported plan to make the Southern Tier a sort of test area for hydrofracking--

At the Endicott Visitors Center, Citizens Against Fracking was seeking  signatures on a petition to ban hydrofacking  in the Town of Union.

The speaker was  Bill Belitskus, who lives near the Allegheny National Forest in western Pennsylvania--he says that area has already been heavily impacted by gas and oil drilling--and doesn't want to see the Southern Tier become another  experiment.

Belitskus said, They don't need a test region, they can come to Pennsylvania, to Ohio, or West Virginia, or Colorado, or Wyoming. The impacts are already there, on water, on the soil, of the environment.....and second, an uneven application of state laws to citiizens is unconstitutional, it's a crazy idea."

The Citizens Against Fracking want to present the petition to ban fracking  to the Town of Union board.
