Floral Park Pool Set to Reopen Tuesday

(Source: Fox 40 Staff)

The Broome County Health Department is set to inspect the pool in Johnson City where at least three children were treated after being exposed to high levels of chlorine on Sunday.

The Johnson City Parks Department said the chlorine in the Floral Park pool was at an acceptable level when it was checked Sunday morning.

But, an investigation is underway to discover how the level spiked during the day.

"We're going to review the procedures we have. Evidently the dial on the injector for the chlorine got turned up somehow. We're not exactly sure who or how it happened but we are investigating it," said Mike Sherba, Deputy Superintendent for Johnson City Public Works.

Sherba said there is no reason for parents to worry about their children using the pool at floral park.

However, the pool is closed pending the county health department's investigation Tuesday morning at 11:30.
