Kids Build And Launch Their Own Rockets

The best way to teach kids about science and engineering is to give them hands on experience.

On Saturday over one hundred and twenty students of
various ages were building and launching their own rockets at the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center.  Parents were able to help the kids build their project and they used gun powder to get their rockets airborne.

"The key thing that they learn is engineering and how to put things together in science about what really matters and what doesn't matter.  Because a little factor, a little change in something could possibly change the flight of the rockets" said Roy Willis of the Kopernik Observatory.

The Observatory and Science Center has several events scheduled throughout the summer.  For more information you can log onto their website at Kopernik.org.
