A tradition nearly a century old continued in Endicott Monday at the Broome County Memorial Day Parade.
Back In 1921 the American Legion adopted the poppy as it's memorial flower.
These days many of the red paper poppies are handed out in exchange for a contribution.
They are made by disabled veterans across the state to honor servicemen who died in war.
The money stays local and helps veterans and their families from individual posts.
About 25 million Americans wear Legion Auxiliary poppies each year.
