Auctioned Properties Bring 2.1 Million Dollars

Local properties not devastated by floodwaters, but which have deteriorated through neglect, are still worth a total of about  2.1 million dollars:
That's what the bankruptcy auction brought in bids in  Binghamton on Thursday.

More than two dozen properties were sold in the city's Westside, along with some in Endicott.

New owners are promising to fix up many of the deteriorating properties--to rent them out or put them to other new uses.

Most of them came with significant backtaxes, which must be paid before the sales are finalized.
