Award For Kopernik Science Center

Binghamton University and Kopernik Observatory announced a two thousand dollar award to the science center this afternoon.

The award is the result of a partnership with the university, Manley's Mighty Mart, and Big Al's Pizza.

The Manley's service learning project partners with BU students and non-profit organizations.

The team of students assigned to the Kopernik Observatory presented their final project before the end of the school year and were chosen as the winners.

Kopernik director Andrew Deskur said having help from outside the center will help out down the road.

Deskur says,"They've helped us look at our facility and our mission in a new light and given us a real hope for a very bright future."

Included in the recommendations made by the students: improvements to the center's store, and the much bigger project of adding a dormitory on the property in the near future.
