Grace Charles
Grace was born in Brooklyn, New York. As a little girl, she would read the New York Daily News that was delivered to her home and always thought it would be fun to be the person reporting the news. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in English and Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication Graduate program with M.S. in Broadcast. Grace interned at KDKA-TV, WIVT in Binghamton while at Syracuse, worked as a Washington Correspondent covering Capitol Hill for WJET-TV in Erie, PA. Grace credits her interest in Broadcast news to an internship at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh which opened her eyes to the fast paced world of television news. She liked the fact that working in television news afforded reporters the opportunity to get the news out faster. In addition to covering the Binghamton ACA shooting of April 2009, Grace also reported live during the historic 2008 elections. She believes the most rewarding part of her job, “knowing that the work I do makes a difference. It might sound cheesy, but if I can explain, inform or do a story that impacts one person then my job is done.” When Grace is not at work, she enjoys jogging, working out and her guilty pleasure is reality television.
