Cervical
Cancer Awareness Month.Cervical cancer, when detected early is nearly 100% curable. All women are encouraged to see their health care provider for regular pap tests.
Each day in the United States, 30 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer (about 11,000 women per year) and 11 women die from it.
Some risk factors include: HPV infection, smoking, weakened immune system and using birth control for a long period of time.
Early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are contributed to regular Pap tests.
HPV Types 16 and 18 cause about 75% of cervical cancer cases in females.
Symptoms of cervical cancer usually do not appear until the cancer is more advanced.
