Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Cervical cancer, when detected early is nearly 100% curable. All women are encouraged to see their health care provider for regular pap tests.

 

Did you know:

1. Each day in the United States, 30 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer (about 11,000 women per year) and 11 women die from it.
    

2. Some risk factors include: HPV infection, smoking, weakened immune system and using birth control for a long period of time.
    

3. Early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are contributed to regular Pap tests.
    

4. HPV Types 16 and 18 cause about 75% of cervical cancer cases in females.
    

5. Symptoms of cervical cancer usually do not appear until the cancer is more advanced.
