About Us: Jim and Justine acquired
the name Grandmother's Thimble in April 2001 after the owner decided
to give up the business. At the same time we were approved for the
Bernina dealership. We soon found a store front in Vestal, NY. We
opened in May 2001 with almost 3000 sq. ft. On our first floor we
had sewing machines and fabric. On the second floor we had classes
and repairs.
In 2005 we had the opportunity to expand the first floor into the
center section of the building. This gave us more sales floor space
and more classrooms. And best of all we didn't have to carry
machines upstairs!
Jim is an authorized Bernina technician and enjoys working on all
brands of machines.
Our mission statement is simple. Sell the highest quality products
on the market and provide exceptional service to our customers.
We are your choice for Sewing & Embroidery Machines, Sergers,
Software, Threads, Fabrics, Quilting supplies and embroidery
designs. Grandmother's Thimble carries a variety of books, patterns,
stabilizers and quilting supplies. (We are happy to special order
anything at no extra charge.)
Our fabrics are 100% cotton - 1st quality and vary from civil war to
Batiks to name a few.
Our classes are for everyone from children to adults from beginner
to experienced. Grandmother's Thimble offers a wide variety of
sewing classes taught by knowledgeable and experienced teachers. We
have two large air conditioned classrooms.
Our expert staff can assist you in finding just the right machine
for your needs or selecting the right fabrics for your
quilting/sewing project.
Our machine service is on site by a factory trained technician who
can repair most makes and models of sewing machines and sergers. All
repairs done on premises.
