American Idol Winner Is Jordin Sparks

The season ended with a tremendous finale with one great performance after another. Before the results were announced, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell predicted that Jordin Sparks would win, while Paula Abdul refused to make a choice. Ryan Seacrest announced that after a world record 74 million votes that Jordin Sparks was the winner of American Idol 6. An emotional Jordin Sparks said “I can’t thank you for keeping me around, and thank you so much for everything. Mom, dad, I love you.”

American Idol Final Performance Show

Even though Seattle was criticized as the worst city ever for talent on American Idol, Seacrest pointed out that both the remaining two finalists and the the winners of the songwriting contest came out of Seattle. In a taped segment, Blake Lewis won the coin toss, and he asked Jordin Sparks if she wanted to go first. Jordin shook her head no, so Blake said he would go first.

American Idol Results Shocker - Melinda Doolittle Eliminated

Tonight Seacrest revealed that almost sixty million votes were cast and that Jordin Sparks had made it through to the American Idol finale. In a shocker, Seacrest revealed that it was the end of the road for Melinda Doolittle. Blake Lewis joined Jordin Sparks in the final two.

American Idol Results – Lakisha Jones Eliminated

Seacrest told Jordin Sparks that she was safe. After another commercial break, Seacrest told Melinda Doolittle that she was also safe. The final two up for elimination came down to Lakisha Jones and Blake Lewis. Simon Cowell predicted that Lakisha was going home. Seacrest revealed that after 45 million votes, Blake Lewis was safe and Lakisha Jones was going home.

American Idol Results – Phil Stacey And Chris Richardson Eliminated

After a special guest performance from Robin Thicke and the Ford Music video, Seacrest asked Melinda Doolittle, Phil Stacey, and Lakisha Jones to come to center stage. Seacrest told Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones that they were safe and announced that Phil Stacey would be leaving tonight. Seacrest then announced that after 135 million votes Chris Richardson would be the second person to go home.
